Senior macOS Developer
Our client is disrupting the cybersecurity market with a highly differentiated product that empowers organizations to understand and manage the security risk of software running on their systems.
As a fast-growing start-up with strong funding, our client is expanding its team and looking for a skilled and passionate macOS developer to lead the development of its macOS sensor. The sensor collects and processes information before sending it to the product backend via API.
Our client is looking for an experienced senior macOS Developer with deep knowledge of macOS system internals and system-level development. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with the macOS Endpoint Security framework and a comprehensive understanding of macOS components. This role involves leading the initiative to build their macOS sensor, interfacing with security frameworks, and ensuring the highest performance, security, and reliability standards for their macOS support.
Responsibilities:
Lead Development of macOS Sensor:
• Design, develop, and maintain the macOS component of our application with a focus on system-level features and real-time monitoring
• Architect solutions that effectively monitor and analyze software interactions with the macOS kernel
Security Solutions Development:
• Develop advanced security solutions using the macOS Endpoint Security framework to monitor and protect system processes, file access, network activity, and other security-related events
• Implement features that detect insecure software behavior in macOS applications
System-Level Programming:
• Work on kernel extensions or system-level components requiring in-depth knowledge of macOS internals (e.g., XNU kernel, file systems, process management)
• Optimize system performance while ensuring robust security measures are in place
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Collaborate with cross-platform teams to design solutions that provide comparable functionality on other major operating systems
• Coordinate with backend and frontend developers to integrate system-level functionalities seamlessly
Troubleshooting and Optimization:
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to system performance, application security, and low-level macOS functionality
• Continuously improve the application’s efficiency, scalability, and stability
Secure Communication Implementation:
• Implement and maintain secure communication protocols between applications and system components
• Ensure data integrity and confidentiality across all communications
Qualifications:
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in macOS development
• Demonstrable experience with the macOS Endpoint Security framework and system extensions
• Strong background in system-level programming and macOS internals
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in C programming and ASM x86/x64
• Experience with Linux Security Modules (LSM) and user-space development
• Familiarity with Linux software package creation (e.g., deb/rpm/Makeself)
• Excellent debugging skills, especially in the context of kernel drivers and system components
Non-Technical Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• The ability to articulate complex technical concepts in writing and in team meetings.
• A proactive and innovative mindset
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in a start-up environment
• Familiarity with cross-platform development (Windows, Linux)
• Certifications in cybersecurity or related fields (e.g., CISSP, OSCP)
• Contributions to open-source projects related to macOS or security
